Today our third grade Roadrunners had a truly meaningful and memorable experience!

We were honored to welcome special guest Miss Michelle, who is blind, along with her friends Miss Liz, Miss Chris, and Mr. Stan. Together, they led an engaging, interactive program that helped students better understand blindness and how individuals navigate the world using a white cane.

During their visit, students:
✨ Learned about blindness and explored tools Michelle uses in her daily life
📖 Received their own copy of *Grandpa’s White Cane* (with extra copies for classrooms and our library!)
🦯 Practiced using a child-sized white cane—tapping, listening, and learning firsthand
💬 Asked thoughtful questions during a powerful Q&A session with Michelle

A special thank you to the Lions Club for generously donating books for every third grader—what an amazing gift!

We’re so grateful for opportunities like this that help our students grow not just academically, but as compassionate and understanding individuals.

🏁 We’re off to the races celebrating two of the very best this week! 🏁

Happy Administrative Professionals Day to our incredible elementary secretaries, Miss Michelle and Miss Amanda! These two keep our school running at full speed every single day—handling the curves, pit stops, and surprise detours with patience, skill, and a whole lot of heart.

From greeting every student and family with a smile to keeping everything organized behind the scenes, they are truly the engines that keep us moving forward. We’d be stalled at the starting line without them!

Thank you for going the extra mile for our staff and students—we are so lucky to have you in our driver’s seat. 🏎️

What an out-of-this-world experience for our students!

Our 4th and 5th graders had the incredible opportunity to participate in a live virtual visit with author and illustrator John Rocco! Students were fully engaged as they listened, learned, and even got to ask their own questions- some were thrilled to see themselves on screen!

From learning about space exploration to hearing tips for overcoming writer's block, this experience sparked curiosity and excitement across the board. Many students are already talking about becoming preofessional authors and illustrators themselves one day!

One of the highlights? Each student received their very own copy of "How We Got to the Moon" to take home and share with their families. We loved hearing how excited they were to read it together at home.

A special thank you to the National Book Foundation and The United Way of the Black Hills for helping make this amazing opportunity possible for our students!

Shout out to the 5th grade classes at South Park for joining us for this awesome event—we hope you are loving your new books!

We are so grateful for opportunities like this that bring learning to life and inspire our students in meaningful ways.

🎶🏁 Full Speed Ahead at the Music Memory Festival! 🏁🎶

Our Roadrunners raced into the RCAS Elementary City-Wide Music Memory Festival and absolutely crushed it!

Our students had the incredible opportunity to listen to the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra perform excerpts of various pieces—then put their listening skills to the test by identifying song titles, pieces, and composers. Talk about fast thinking and sharp ears!

Results from the track:
Our 3rd and 4th grade team delivered a top-notch performance, earning a perfect 100% in both the primary and challenge rounds! Way to go Aaryn, Holden, Ana, Olivia, and Lucious!

Our 5th grade team also delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 100% in the primary round! Nice work Quintin, Sebastian, Melody, Fiona, and Ryence! Melody and Fiona were also recognized as third-year Music Memory participants—what an amazing accomplishment!

The fun didn’t stop there! Students not only enjoyed the orchestra, but also joined in on a lively body percussion performance with the audience—a hands-on highlight that had everyone feeling the rhythm! They also had the opportunity to perform "Viva la Musica” alongside the orchestra and enjoyed several guest performances, including one by the RCAS music teachers.

This unforgettable experience fuels a love for music while building lifelong skills in listening, teamwork, and critical thinking.

A huge thank you to our incredible music teacher, Mrs. Kelly, for keeping our Roadrunners on track and race-ready! And a special shoutout to our supportive team parents—we couldn’t do it without you!

💛 April Community Day: Teamwork in Action! 💛

Today at Robbinsdale, our students showed what it truly means to work together! Our April Community Day focused on teamwork, and the building was filled with energy, laughter, and collaboration.

Students participated in a variety of cooperative games, practicing communication, encouragement, and problem-solving with their peers. From learning and playing Chuck the Chicken to the classic Red Rover, every activity was designed with one goal in mind—getting ALL students involved and working as a team.

It was incredible to see students supporting one another, including everyone, and celebrating shared success. 💫

🌎✨ Community Day at Robbinsdale ✨🌎

Today our students spent Community Day learning about diversity, inclusion, and perspective-taking while celebrating what makes each person unique.

Classrooms began with thoughtful read-alouds that focused on understanding others, appreciating different perspectives, and building a strong, respectful community.

Students then created Ledger Art, decorating a silhouette on a book page to represent what makes them unique and special. The creativity and individuality in each piece was incredible to see, and the activity sparked great conversations about identity and belonging.

Students also enjoyed a small treat of iced tea and Oreos, with gluten-free options available so everyone could participate. If extra time allowed, classrooms wrapped up the day with partner reading or coloring bookmarks.

It was a meaningful day of reflection, creativity, and community—reminding us that our differences help make Robbinsdale a stronger place to learn and grow. 💙

🔥 The Flame Roadrunners Took the Plunge! 🔥

This terrific team braved the icy waters at the 2026 Polar Plunge and they absolutely ROCKED it for a great cause!

Together, these rockstars raised an amazing $6,556 in support of Special Olympics South Dakota. Their courage (and willingness to get a little chilly!) helps provide opportunities and life-changing experiences for athletes across our state.

We are so proud of our team for stepping up, diving in, and showing what it means to lead by example. Way to go, Roadrunners!

❤️ What a GREAT night to be a Future Cobbler! ❤️

We had a fantastic turnout at Future Cobbler Night! It was so fun to look up into the stands and see so many of our Future Cobblers showing their spirit and cheering alongside the community at Rapid City Central High School.

Several Roadrunner staff members joined in the fun as well, proudly supporting our students and celebrating this special night together. We hope everyone enjoyed the exciting basketball games, the energy of the cheerleaders, and the awesome sounds of the band!

One of the most memorable moments was watching the senior basketball players be recognized for Senior Night. Our elementary students got a glimpse of that milestone—and a reminder that one day, that will be them.

A big congratulations to one of our very own Roadrunners, Enza, who was the lucky winner of a Nintendo Switch! Way to go, Inza—we hope you’re already having fun with it!

The future is bright, and it’s filled with Cobbler pride!

💖 February Heart Health Community Day 💖

Our students spent Community Day focusing on healthy bodies and healthy hearts!

🍓 Heart-Healthy Snack Time
Students created their own fruit kabobs using bananas, grapes, and strawberries—taking their time to cut, build, and enjoy a snack that fuels their bodies and builds independence. Learning happens best when we slow down and savor it!

🎨 Heart Art & Positive Affirmations
Students designed tear-art hearts and paired them with powerful affirmations like “I can do hard things” and “I can keep going even when it’s challenging.” These meaningful creations will be displayed in our building during conferences as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and positivity our students carry with them every day.

We loved seeing creativity, collaboration, and confidence shining throughout the building. 💕
