Despite chilly temps and gusty winds, 16 amazing Girls on the Run students from Robbinsdale and their families showed up strong for today’s 5K! They joined teams from Sturgis and Spearfish for this uplifting community event — proof that teamwork, courage, and positive energy can warm even the coldest day!
Each girl harnessed her “I Can” power and crossed that finish line with determination and joy. For some, it was their very first 5K, and for others, their third season of GOTR greatness — but every step was filled with confidence, friendship, and unstoppable spirit.
We couldn’t be more proud of these incredible girls and the amazing families who cheered them on every step of the way. Thank you for braving the weather and making this day one to remember! A huge thank-you to our terrific coaches for inspiring, encouraging, and empowering our girls — you made this season truly special!

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible students, staff, families, and community for helping us celebrate the power of positive choices all week long. This year’s theme, “Life is a Puzzle — Solve it Drug Free,” reminded us that every choice we make helps complete the picture of a healthy, happy life.
A special shoutout to Nick Johnson, President of the Noon Optimists, who presented our school with the Red Ribbon traveling trophy and a check for $250. Thank you, Noon Optimists, for supporting our students and helping us stay healthy all year long — not just in October!
Other assembly highlights included prioritizing and thinking ahead. We concluded with a suspenseful staff challenge of Deal or No Deal — so much laughter and school spirit!

Today we welcomed families to join us for a special morning of connection and creativity! 💛 Students and parents enjoyed delicious fry bread and wojape while decorating quilt squares that will be sewn together into one beautiful school-family quilt. 🧵✨
Our lesson theme was “Put First Things First” — a reminder to focus on what matters most and take care of the important things before everything else.
We’re so grateful to our families for being part of this wonderful day at Robbinsdale! 💚💛 #GrowingLeadersThroughExcellence #BuildingCommunity #ReachingGoals #CelebratingSuccess

We’re so proud to celebrate three amazing Roadrunners who were recognized for their creativity and positive message in this year’s Red Ribbon Week contests!
Fifth grader Riley and fourth grader Zoey each received Honorable Mentions for their Red Ribbon Billboard Designs, and Savannah earned an Honorable Mention for her Coloring Contest entry!
The theme — “Life Is a Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free”* — was perfectly reflected in their artwork and imagination. These students reminded us that every positive choice is another piece that fits into a healthy, happy life!
A big thank you to the Rushmore Noon Optimist Club for stopping by today to present their awards and special Red Ribbon goodie bags!

Every student, family, and staff member is a vital piece of the puzzle that makes our school strong. Together, we’re solving life’s challenges—one healthy choice at a time!
Our mascot even showed up, proudly wearing his red ribbon and cheering everyone on!
We were thrilled to see so many young people there—not just from our school, but kids from all around the community coming together to support a drug-free future.

A huge thank-you to all the students, families, and staff who represented our school in the Indigenous Peoples' Parade—whether you walked with us or cheered from the sidelines! 🧡

Our Roadrunners raced into the day with smiles and plenty of school spirit! Students were cheered on for getting to school safely and on time.
Students leaders passed out Smarties to their classmates for being a "smartie" and knowing that attendance matters!
Students are heading home with a safety tip sheet and a traffic cone flashlight keychain thanks to the SD Department of Transportation. Be sure to save it for Trick-or-treating later this month.
A huge thank you to Officer Josh, our amazing school liaison, for joining the fun and welcoming students with his patrol car!
🖍️ Don’t forget! Safety Poster contest entries are due this Friday. Students can create their safety posters at home on their own paper, or stop by the Student Information Center to pick up paper.
Let’s keep the momentum going and walk, roll, and race safely every day, Roadrunners!

We are celebrating all of our Roadrunners who missed 2 days or less in September! 🏅👏 These students received a special attendance bracelet to recognize their commitment to showing up, learning, and growing every day.
🌟 Each month, students have a chance to earn a new bracelet by meeting the goal — and we can’t wait to see who will collect them all!
Good attendance is key to student learning and success. 💡📚 Let’s keep up the great work, Roadrunners — every day counts!

Today we cheer for the MVP of our pit crew, Mr. Paul!
Just like a race car can’t win without a great pit crew, our school couldn’t run without Mr. Paul. From keeping our hallways shining to fixing what’s broken, Mr. Paul helps our Roadrunners stay safely on track every single day.
Thank you, Mr. Paul, for all the hard work, dedication, and heart you put into our school—you truly help us race to excellence!
Let’s give a big round of applause for the fastest, hardest-working custodian in the business!

A day of remembrance. A day of reflection. A day to stand together.
Orange Shirt Day honors the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential and boarding schools across the U.S. and Canada.
The orange shirt represents the loss of culture, identity, and innocence—but also the resilience of Native people. Today, our school wears orange to honor survivors, remember those who never returned, and affirm the truth that Every Child Matters.
Earlier this month, every student received their very own copy of Wings of an Eagle. Today, they had the incredible opportunity to hear directly from Olympic champion and author Billy Mills, author Donna Janell Bowman, and illustrator S.D. Nelson at the Monument.
The stories, wisdom, and inspiration they shared fueled our students’ engines with hope and determination. It was exciting, educational, and truly inspiring—a pit stop on their journey they’ll remember for years to come!

Thank you to our wonderful families for sharing in the fun and learning — and for tasting the sweet rewards of curiosity and community. 💛

We're so excited to host a booth at The Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival this Saturday! Come find the Rapid City Area Schools booth for free temporary tattoos, cool swag, and a chance to chat with us! We can't wait to see you there!

Students learned about the writing and art process while also hearing powerful messages about never giving up, setting goals, taking action, and racing toward their dreams.
Each student received their very own copy of the book to add to their home library - plus a packet of fun activities to keep the momentum going at home. They even enjoyed Haribo Goldbears as a sweet reminder to “go for the gold” in all they do!
A huge thank you to United Way of the Black Hills, the Statewide Family Engagement Center, and the South Dakota Humanities Council for fueling this experience.
The excitement doesn’t stop here… next week our 3rd graders will get to hear from the team in person at The Monument!

🌟 Community Day Recap: Being Proactive & Assertive 🌟
Today our Robbinsdale School Family came together to learn how to be proactive problem solvers with strong voices and wise choices.
We kicked off the day with a School Family Assembly where students explored three ways of responding when someone hurts us:
🐢 Turtle – quiet and shy
🦈 Shark – mean and aggressive
🦉 Owl – wise and clear
Our goal? To be like the Owl—responding with wisdom, strength, and respect.
In our Community Classrooms, students read stories about assertiveness, like Sophie’s Big Voice and Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon. We also practiced using the Time Machine—a strategy that helps us tell others to stop doing something we don’t like and explain how we want to be treated instead.
We wrapped up the day with creative fun—Owl masks and Owl snacks—as a reminder that every child has the power to problem solve with courage and clarity.
🦉💙 At Robbinsdale, we’re growing wise Owls who use their voices to build a stronger, kinder community!
